WhereverTV readies LATAM OTT launch featuring The QYOU

WhereverTV Broadcasting Corporation is preparing a Latin America-focused streaming service that will initially premiere in Mexico and feature The QYOU’s multi-platform channel.

With the Mexican release scheduled for summer, WhereverTV Latino will be the first move of the Florida-based over-the-top (OTT) provider in the Latin American region.

For The QYOU, the association also marks its expansion in the region after the agreement reached with Mexican operator TotalPlay in July 2016.

WhereverTV has chosen to feature The QYOU’s programming line-up to introduce a broader content mix to millennial subscribers. The channel will feature digital-first creative talent from around the world, covering genres as diverse as music, comedy, children’s entertainment, sports and stunt.

“A big part of our business model focuses on the younger demographics who are digital-savvy and looking for alternatives to traditional cable networks online,” said Jack Feldman, director for Latin America at WhereverTV. “WhereverTV Latinos’ OTT streaming platform and The QYOU was a natural fit to meeting the viewing demands of that younger 15-24-year-old market segment.”

“Mexico is a big market for TV consumption and we know that a lot of younger viewers are switching to digital streaming services to get access to TV and video content. This audience has grown up watching short video clips of sports, comedy and entertainment on social media channels accessed whenever and wherever,” added Bob Reid, VP of business development and sales, QYOU Media.
